Privacy Policy

Updated at 2026-08-22

Ticko: Tooth Brushing Timer is a single-player app for children. It has no accounts, no login, no sign-up and no cloud save. We never ask for a child's surname, email address, postal address or phone number, and there is no chat, no messaging and no user-generated content that anyone else can see.

No personal information is collected from children. The profile name and age you enter, brushing history, streaks, unlocked items, photos and coloring pages are stored on your own device and are never sent to us.

The app shows no ads, contains no advertising SDK, and does not collect an advertising ID. What does leave the device is anonymous usage analytics containing no personal information, and purchase validation handled by Apple and Google.

Who we are

Ticko: Tooth Brushing Timer is published by HappyTooth, a one-person indie studio based in Poland. When this policy says “we,” “us” or “our,” it means HappyTooth, which is the party responsible for your information under this policy.

This policy covers the Ticko: Tooth Brushing Timer mobile app and the website at ticko.happytoothapp.com. You can reach us at any time at happy.toothapp@gmail.com.

What stays on your device

Ticko keeps its state locally, in the app's own private storage. This includes:

None of this is uploaded to us, and none of it is backed up to a server we control. Deleting the app deletes it, which also means it cannot be recovered or transferred to a new device by us.

What leaves the device

Three things, and nothing else:

1. Anonymous usage analytics. We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate — for example how many brushing sessions are completed, or which screens are opened. This is deliberately constrained:

Firebase generates a per-installation identifier so that events from the same app install can be grouped. That identifier is device-level; it is not a name, and it is reset if the app is reinstalled. Google's handling of this data is covered by the Firebase privacy documentation.

2. Purchase validation. If you buy something in the app, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google and validated through RevenueCat, which manages entitlements on our behalf. RevenueCat identifies the installation with an anonymous identifier that it generates — we do not send it a name, an email address or an account. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.

3. App update checks. The app checks whether a newer version of its content is available. This involves the app version, platform and device type, and is used only to deliver the correct update.

We do not sell any of this data, and we do not share it with advertisers, data brokers or marketing partners.

The camera, photos and coloring pages

Ticko includes a camera feature so a child can take a photo with Ticko, and a coloring studio for making pictures. If you use the camera, the app asks for camera permission first, and your device will not grant it without your approval.

Photos and coloring pages are saved inside the app's own private storage on the device. They are not uploaded to us, they are not added to your phone's shared photo library unless you choose to share them yourself, and they are never used for analytics. If you use your device's share sheet to send a picture to someone, that is your action and it is handled by your device and the app you send it to.

Notifications

Ticko can remind you when it is time to brush. These are local notifications: they are scheduled by the app on the device itself. There is no push server, and no push token is generated or sent to us. You can turn notifications off in the app's settings or in your device's system settings.

Advertising

Ticko contains no advertising. There is no ad SDK in the app, no ad network is contacted, no advertising ID is collected, and no data is used to profile anyone or to target advertising, in the app or anywhere else.

Kids' privacy

Ticko is made for children aged roughly 3 to 9 and is designed to comply with the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Google Play Families policy and Apple's Kids Category requirements.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not ask a child for a surname, an email address, a postal address, a phone number or a photograph of themselves for any purpose that leaves the device. The profile name and age that a parent or child types in are stored on the device and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.

The app has no chat, no messaging, no friend lists, no leaderboards and no way for a child to publish anything to other users or to be contacted by them.

Purchases and links that lead out of the app are placed behind a parental gate, so that a young child cannot reach the store or an external website on their own.

If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at happy.toothapp@gmail.com and we will delete it. Because everything a child enters stays on the device, in practice you can also remove it yourself at any time by deleting the profile or the app.

Purchases and payment details

Ticko is free to download and offers optional in-app purchases. All payments are handled by the App Store or Google Play. We never see, receive or store your card number, bank details or billing address.

Refunds are handled by Apple and Google through the store you bought from, because they are the merchant of record and we are not. If something went wrong inside the app after a purchase, email us and we will help sort out what happened.

The website

The website at ticko.happytoothapp.com has no accounts, no contact form and no newsletter. It does not set advertising cookies and does not track you across other websites. The app itself does not use cookies.

Data retention and deletion

Data stored on your device stays there until you delete the profile, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app. We have no copy of it and therefore cannot restore it for you.

Anonymous analytics data is retained by Google Firebase according to the retention period configured for the project, after which it is deleted automatically. Purchase records are retained by Apple, Google and RevenueCat for as long as needed to honour entitlements and to meet accounting and legal obligations.

If you email us, we keep that email so we can answer you and fix what you reported. Ask us to delete the correspondence and we will.

GDPR (EEA and UK)

HappyTooth is based in Poland, so the GDPR applies to us. Where we process any personal data, we rely on the following legal bases:

You have the right to request access to personal data relating to you, and to have it corrected, deleted, restricted, or provided in a portable form; and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. To exercise any of these, email happy.toothapp@gmail.com. We will respond within one month.

Because the app has no accounts, we usually cannot connect a request to a specific installation. Where we cannot identify data relating to you, we will say so rather than guess — and in most cases the fastest route is deleting the app's data on the device, which removes it entirely.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).

California residents (CCPA / CalOPPA)

In the past 12 months we have collected the following category of personal information as defined by the CCPA: identifiers, in the narrow form of the device-level installation identifiers described above, together with internet activity information in the form of anonymous in-app event counts. We collect these from the app on your device, and we share them only with the service providers named above (Google Firebase, RevenueCat, and the app stores).

We do not sell or share personal information, and we have not done so in the past 12 months. We do not sell or share the personal information of minors under 16.

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, the right to request deletion, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, email happy.toothapp@gmail.com. As above, without an account we may be unable to link data to you specifically, and we will tell you if that is the case.

The app and this website link to the App Store, Google Play and our own pages. Those services have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your data. Links that leave the app sit behind a parental gate.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be reflected in the app's store listing as well.
